I love re purposed furniture! My hubby on the other hand sees no point, but I digress... I found a great metal file cabinet at a
garage sale a few weeks back and have been taking my sweet time to get
it right, but it's FINALLY ready and I'm in love. This piece is not
traditional at all and not normal to find in my home, probably many people's homes for
that matter, but I needed storage desperately so I thought I'd at least
try it. After bringing it home (at a steal for $7), I taped up the
pulls, then primed it, and finally did my three final coats. In case you are wondering, I started spraying in the sun but realized that I should have been spraying the entire time in the shade - something about how it drys too quickly and doesn't have a professional look. I figured this out after spraying the primer, so I had no problem with it looking bad. The color
is a mix between green and blue, it's called "tropical oasis" by
Valspar. I added cut pieces from a scrapbook page to place inside the
pulls, and I'm thrilled with the turn out. I'm eventually going to add legs to it, giving a little height, but that will probably be a little while. It was a total of $25 for
the entire project. Love it!
